This kagura depicts the story of Minamoto Yorimasa who defeated monstrous monkey called Nue and its group which often disturbed many local people in Northern Kyushu area in the period of 76^th Emperor Konoe(1141 – 1155.)

This kagura displays many monkey tricks including touching Kagura audiences for surprise.

Small monkeys are played by school children, which indicate the tradition of Kagura performance has been succeeded through generation to generation.
