The author or source of this kagura piece is unknown. Probably the story was created based on Oheyama Ekotoba, a picture scroll, and Shuten Doji, a short story.

The legend syas that an evil ogre Shuten Doji and his followers attacked many people with Oheyama, Tanba Province, as his home.

The then Emperor ordered highly praised worriers Minamoto Yorimitsu, Watanabe Tsuna, and Sakata Kintoki to eliminate Shuten Doji.

The worriers were disguised as mountain priests, and they went up Mt. Oheyama and finally got rid of Shuten Doji.
